COVID UPDATE

WINTER OPERATIONS UPDATE:

Wachusett is working with the Department of Conservation and Recreation, in conjunction with Massachusetts Ski Areas Association and National Ski Areas Association to establish proper COVID protocols. We will also be working with Department of Public Health regarding guidelines.
Our shared passion for skiing and snowboarding is what unites us and we appreciate your patience. Safety has always been one of our primary goals and the health of our guests and staff is our highest priority. It will require a team effort to help us ensure a safe mountain experience for all.

When you arrive this winter, here’s a look at some of the changes you may see:

Ski Area Capacity - We anticipate the possibility of operating at a lower capacity meaning demand could be high on peak days and will require more advance planning. As science is proving, outdoor activities provide the safest space. Please work together to share the mountain so everyone gets a chance to enjoy some well-deserved runs.

Lift Ticket & Season Pass Restrictions - All lift tickets will need to be purchased online, in advance. We plan to sell day tickets in 4-hour sessions (morning and afternoon) and night tickets in 3-hour sessions (early and later). We are also considering season pass reservations, as is the case for Vail resorts and others.

Chairlifts - Capacity of lifts will be reduced to allow for physical distancing. Guests will only be allowed on lifts with travelers in their party or as 2 singles on opposite sides; face coverings are required in the load area and riding the lift.

Base Lodge & Food Service - We will have limited indoor space for seating and storage. More outdoor seating on deck including additional fire pits, heaters and heated benches. There will also be more outdoor storage.  You should consider your vehicle as your ‘personal base lodge’ and, whenever possible, plan to store all your personal items there.  Additionally, our “Clean Team” will regularly be conducting enhanced cleaning and sanitization. Expanded outdoor food and beverage outlets will be available in addition to O’Brien’s Deck Bar & Grill. There will be more grab & go food options in the Food Court and limited seating in the Coppertop Lounge and Black Diamond Restaurant.

Ski & Snowboard School & Rentals - We plan to have adjusted class sizes and staggered line ups, as well as adding fourth lineup, with online ski school reservations. No lunch programs for children. All rental orders will be online. Ski/board pickup will be outdoors on deck in front of the Rental building.

Social Distancing and Face Coverings - On the mountain, our outdoor setting makes social distancing easy, but in the base area and other locations where it is more difficult to do so, we will have signage to remind guests to remain six feet apart at ALL times. Guests will be required to wear face coverings in certain areas, where 6’ distancing is difficult. This includes in lines, when loading and unloading chairlifts and in indoor resort facilities. Team members will be required to wear face coverings. Plexiglass barriers will be installed in areas where physical distancing measures are not possible, including at points of purchase. Team members may limit the number of guests in any area of the resort to ensure proper physical distancing.

If you have any thoughts, questions or concerns we want to hear from you. Contact us at [email protected]. Please check our website for updates and additional resources you may find useful as you make your winter plans. Thanks for your continued support as we prepare for the upcoming winter. Just like any other season, we are committed to providing you the best possible snow conditions and will begin snowmaking operations as soon as weather permits. The mountain is scheduled to be open from mid to late November and run through early April. We look forward to skiing with you this year, more than any other year in our history.
